The St Marys Submarine Museum is the largest museum of its kind in the South and the fifth largest submarine museum in the country. Sitting gracefully on Osborne Street is the architectural pearl of historic St. Marys, Georgia. Orange Hall is a showcase of antebellum life in the Greek Revival Style. McIntosh Sugarmill Tabby Ruins c.1826 

3600 Charlie Smith Sr. Hwy, St Marys, Georgia  31558 (912) 729-5600 Tabby, a building material unique to the area, is made oyster shells, sand and water. The mill was built in 1826 and is the largest and best preserved of all tabby remains in the Southeast. The ruins are one of the oldest industrial sites of Georgia. The building burned in the mid-1800's and was never rebuilt.

Cumberland Island Museum & War of 1812

129 Osborne Rd., St Marys, Georgia  31558 (912) 882-4336 Located in historic downtown St Marys, this museum houses a collection of artifacts from Cumberland Island including remembrances of the famed Carnegie lifestyle and remnants of the Timucuan Indians who once inhabited the island.  In addition to a moving exhibit of “The Forgotten Invasion"  a battle at the end of the War of 1812.  Hours of Operation 1PM- 4PM Wednesday thru Sunday.
The War of 1812 Podcast Series features:   Episode #1:  Explores the invasion at Point Peter and the attack on the town of St Marys & its subsequent occupation by the British.  Episode #2:  Explores Cockburn's Light Squadron, the staging ground for the assault on Point Peter and the British occupation of Cumberland Island.  Episode #3:  Explores the naval engagement when a convoy bound for St Marys from Savannah was attacked by British forces near where Crooked River State Park is located today.
