Spanning across Georgia’s six coastal counties, the Coastal Georgia Greenway serves as a vital link connecting inland communities and coastal attractions. This extensive network of pathways are part of the East Coast Greenway, allowing visitors to traverse through towns, recreational sites, historic landmarks, cultural sites, waterways, and natural habitats of the coast, offering a comprehensive and immersive experience of the region. By following a diverse range of north-south routes, such as the U.S. Highway 17 corridor, abandoned rail lines (White Oak Rail-Trail & Woodbine Rail-Trail & River Walk), and historic canal corridors, travelers are treated to a rich tapestry of coastal imagery and landscapes, providing a unique and memorable glimpse into the coastal heritage and scenic beauty of Georgia. Though portions of this trail, such as the Rail-Trails and River Walk, are popular for serene nature walks – this expansive trail is perfect for biking and some areas are better explored by water, such as the St. Marys portion of the Coastal Georgia Greenway Canoe Trail. Weave through our St. Marys River marshes and travel from mid-town to the Historic Downtown St. Marys area. Be sure to pay attention to our local tides to avoid being caught longer than planned in our local waterways.
