Woodbine
Traveling north from Kingsland, visitors will find the hidden gem of Woodbine. With roots dating back to the earliest colonists who toughed it out on the Georgia coast; history still tells a story here. Woodbine serves as the central hub for legal services in Camden County (Good to know, if you should decide to upgrade from a visitor to a resident!) the county courthouse, built in 1928, as well as a portion of the downtown area are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Immerse yourself in history with a trip to the Woodbine Opry. What once served as the county’s high school, now hosts bluegrass and countrified jam sessions on Friday and Saturday nights, featuring some of the best musicians in the area!
Though the shopping in Woodbine may be less abundant than some of the surrounding cities, it has no shortage of Southern charm. Refuel for your trail adventures, with lunch at The Bank House or spend an evening with live music, backyard barbeque and local seafood at Captain Stan’s Smokehouse. For a fresh and unique seasonal experience, Woodbine boasts some of the best U-Pick blueberries at Morning Belle Farms and some of the freshest raw seafood around at Whitehouse Seafood
Sure to be expected from a city that gets its name from a plant, Woodbine has an endless supply of greenery and wildlife. This coastal hotspot is part of multiple state greenways and trails, including the East Coast Greenway, the Coastal Georgia Greenway, and the Rails to Trails Conservancy. A perfect location for hiking, biking, birdwatching or simply sitting and watching a memorable, coastal sunrise or sunset, the Woodbine Riverwalk is easily accessible from GA Highway 17.
