Explore in Style by Rail

Kingsland Station, located right in Downtown Kingsland, is home to The Florida-Georgia Railway Heritage Museum, as well as a fascinating collection of historic locomotives that provide a unique experience of Kingsland’s neighborhoods and nature. They have a rotating offering of themed rides, as well, and October’s themes include Meet the Monsters train ride and a spooky Zombie Train Ride. Check out their site for details and tickets!

St. Marys Seafood Festival

Head to the St. Marys Waterfront Park the first Saturday in October for a mouthwatering selection of seafood delights from local restaurants and food trucks! There will also be a parade, 5K and 10K runs, free concerts, a Kids Fun Zone, and plenty of arts & craftsvendors to browse. You’ll be supporting a great cause, too–the event is organized by the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys, with festival proceeds going towards Kiwanis youth programs in Camden County.

Kingsland Catfish Festival

Southeast Georgia’s seafood is so good, we celebrate it more than once a year! Kingsland hosts this annual mustvisit in its historic downtown, where the streets fill with vendors offering signature local seafood, beers and wines, and even more with arts & crafts, more than 200 booths to explore (and a wide variety of food types). Live music, a parade, and a kid’s area round out this event as a must-visit occasion. Plan your weekend and check out their schedule on the festival’s site.

Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony

Steeped in naval history as well as home to Kings Bay base, Kingsland celebrates and honors veterans with a Veteran’s Day parade and ceremony in Historic Downtown, with the ceremony held at Kingsland Veterans Memorial Park. The event is sponsored by Kingsland’s VFW Post #8385; keep an eye on their Facebook page for details!

Get to know Kingsland with an afternoon of exploring local antique shops full of incredible pieces waiting to meet their match! Rosewood Estate Sales offers a curated selection of timeless gems, from antique furniture to decadent glassware and wall art.

Stop by the cutest little pink house that is home to The Southern Charmer, connoisseurs of interior design and home goods. Fall has arrived at the storefront, and for the season you can find themed pieces like elegant pumpkins, spooky-cute ghosts, and autumnal embroidered hand towels.

Warm Up Under the Cumberland Island Sun

Head over to Cumberland Island, just a short drive from Kingsland, to explore the island’s breathtaking nature and historical sites like the National Seashore, Plum Orchard Mansion, and Dungeness Ruins. Majestic wild horses roam the island, and a variety of paths provide plenty of opportunities for picture-perfect moments. Pack a thermos full of hot cocoa or a pumpkin spice latte and set out for a brisk adventure!

Pedal Along the Coastal Greenway

The Coastal Georgia Greenway spans across six coastal counties, consisting of a variety of pathways that offer a choose-your-own-adventure experience of Southeast Georgia. Notable sections to check out include the White Oak Rail Trail and the Woodbine Riverwalk & Rail Trail. There’s even sections that can be explored on the water, such as the St. Marys section of the Coastal Georgia Greenway Canoe Trail.

Small-town bumpkins? We have small-town pumpkins! Local U-Pick farms will have autumnal offerings, if the season has been favorable. Fall/winter crops can also include lemons, satsumas, and potentially grapes before the temperatures drop. Call to check on what’s ready in the fields when planning your visit.
