A relaxing ride, the Train in Kingsland, Georgia never exceeds 25 miles per hour. Gently rolling along, the train features historic Golden Era rail cars, including the most famous California Denver Zephyr that ran long ago on the rail line to Chicago. The views take you through neighborhoods, commercial districts, over woodlands, and marsh in Coastal Georgia. Kingsland, Georgia is situated just off Interstate I-95 south of Savannah, Georgia, Tybee Island, east of Folkston, Georgia, and is on Exit 3 which is the second to last exit in Georgia before you head over the Florida line.
After operating in Florida for years, the train moved to Georgia on a new railroad line. The typical train ride lasts 90 minutes to two hours and themed train rides last about an hour. The Georgia Train is offered on Saturday and departs at 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm. Show up and board for only a $18.50 per person roundtrip including; 1 hour train ride and live entertainment. Food and libations are available for purchase.The Georgia train is one of the oldest privately owned and operated shortline railroads in the country. A calm nostalgia, the themes on the Georgia Coastal Railway Excursion Train in Kingsland, Georgia include The Murder Mystery Express, Beer & Bourbon, Wine & Charcuterie, Pizza Express, Stars on Track, a hilarious Comedy Train, and special holiday-themed ride, like The Santa Special, The Wild West Train Ride in the fall and an Easter themed train ride. Ladies groups regularly dress in their 1920s era dresses and suits and hop on the train for a night out on the town. The property was built in 1915 as a sawmill factory and most recently served as a church, and we transformed the space into a fabulous event venue. Riders can come into the Train Station while they wait and grab an adult beverage before they board, see an HO Scale Model Railroad, railroad memorabilia, lanterns and signs, and turn-of-the-century artifacts, visit or give to the Florida-Georgia Railroad Heritage Museum which is dedicated to preserving railroad history. The Golden Isles Model Railroad Club is an HO-scale model railroad club and is moving to Kingsland Station soon! The club layout is DCC-controlled (MRC wired & wireless system). The club is open to all persons interested in model railroading.

Rail enthusiasts, or railfans, can stay in Kingsland and also take a short day trip to the Folkston Funnel Platform. In Folkston, Georgia, visitors can watch up to 60 trains per day at the main artery into Florida for CSX and Amtrak Trains connecting Florida and the South/Midwest. Complete with ceiling fans, wifi, and a radio scanner that allows you to hear chatter on various trains, this is railfanning at its best! The Folkston Funnel Platform is best for seeing trains before 8:00 am or around 5:00 pm and visitors can experience the train museum late morning or early afternoon.
Be sure to stop first at 1190 Boone Avenue, Kingsland, GA, and view the model train located in the Kingsland Welcome Center. You can watch a moving model railroad exhibit (for minutes or hours), pick up a visitors guide, and snap a picture with the kids or grandkids. You can even charge your Tesla!
