Oak Grove Cemetery Tour by Kay Westberry in St. Marys - FREE

May 16 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

Oak Grove Cemetery  |  Saturday, May 16  |  9 AM-10:30 AM  |  FREE

Join Kay Westberry, author of Oak Grove Cemetery—Quiet Reflections on the History of St. Marys and Its People, for a free in-depth tour of the Oak Grove Cemetery cemetery grounds, on Saturday, May 16, from 9 to 10:30 AM.

Majestic Oak Grove has been an intriguing location since it was created and laid out as part of St. Marys in 1787-88. Approximately 29 soldiers of the American Revolution, as well as soldiers from all wars fought by our country lie in peaceful repose under the beautiful live oaks which shade their rest. The City’s ties with the ocean and rivers are obvious from the markers in honor of captains, seamen and fishermen.

The tour is free, but donations will be accepted and will be used for repairing monuments in need.

Space is limited and reservations are required. To reserve you space, call 912-882-5301. If there is no answer, please leave a message with your name, the number of people in your party, and a telephone number you can be reached in case of cancellation due to bad weather.

Please park on the Weed Street side of the cemetery and meet at the main entrance gate there. The tour will last approximately an hour and a half or as long as questions keep coming.
