Monday: Live Like a Timucua

Gain VIP access to the Cumberland Museum’s archive to view artifacts not accessible to the public!
Forage just as the Native Americans would have for natural resources to use in our next craft.
Then, it’s time to make pottery! Use your foraged items to decorate a clay pot, which you can take home!
Tuesday: St. Marys Scavenger Hunt!
Discover the history of St. Marys – and gain insider access inside its historic buildings – as you go on a scavenger hunt through downtown!
It’s game time! Let’s play wiffleball, mimicking games that locals would have played in St. Marys a century ago.
Then, learn how African Americans would have gathered seafood by cast netting in the St. Marys River!
Wednesday: Cumberland Island Time
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
(Note: This is the only day with different start and end times and different drop off and pick up locations)
Today, we visit Cumberland Island to discover thousands of years of history, from the Native Americans to the Spanish, early Americans to the Gilded Age, and beyond!
See haunting ruins, view wild horses, and learn of the nature of Cumberland Island.
Now for the beach! Here, we will seine for fish in the ocean and run relay races just as the Carnegie family did 100 years ago!
Thursday: Under the Sea
We are back in St. Marys to explore the St. Marys Submarine Museum and view its countless artifacts with the museum’s director.
Then, we will do crafts based on unexpected submarine residents: animals!
Now it’s time to discover seafarers and other prominent St. Marys figures on a scavenger hunt in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friday: Take A Bite Out Of St. Marys
Today is about local food! We will decorate cookies at Cottle and Gunn and then devour our sweet creations!
Then, we will have another scavenger hunt – this time food-related!
Finally, we will do crafts and act out a skit highlighting our favorite parts of the week!
