Come celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Folkston Funnel Platform during Spring Rail Watch 2026!
Located just a short drive west of Kingsland, the City of Folkston’s Rail Watch Day brings train aficionados from all across the country into this quaint town to observe, record and enjoy the romance of yesteryear at a junction that sees more trains passing through than any other railroad junction on the eastern seaboard.
At this year’s Rail Watch, we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Folkston Funnel Viewing Platform. For 25 years, the Folkston Funnel Platform at the corner of Folkston Funnel St. and Oak St. has been a gathering spot where generations have shared stories, watched countless trains roll by, and built lasting memories. The Funnel is more than just a place to watch trains — it’s the heart of Folkston’s rail heritage.
To mark this special occasion, the City of Folkston will welcome several guest speakers to share a few words about the legacy of the Folkston Funnel. We encourage the entire Folkston community to come out and show their support. The brief presentation will begin at 10:00 AM at the Folkston Funnel Platform.
For early-rising rail enthusiasts, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 130 will be offering delicious and reasonably priced ($5) pancake breakfast platters from 7-9 AM at the Folkston Train Depot (3795 Main Street
Folkston, GA 31537). Auxiliary members will also be walking around selling water, hot cocoa, coffee, and sausage biscuits to make sure no one starts off the day hungry or thirsty!
