Spend Valentine’s Day morning with the Camden County Audubon Society as we participate in the worldwide Great Backyard Bird Count at 9 a.m., Saturday, February 14, at Etowah Park in Kings Bay, Georgia!

Each February, for four days the world comes together to admire birds during the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC). Participants spend time in their favorite places observing and counting as many birds as they can find and report their findings. This helps scientists better understand global bird populations.  In as little as 15 minutes notice the birds around you. Identify them, count them, and submit your counts to help scientists better understand and protect birds around the world. If you already use eBird or Merlin, your submissions over the 4 days will count toward GBBC (February 13-16, 2026).

You may participate from the comfort of your own backyard anytime between February 13-16, but we welcome everyone who loves birding to join us at Etowah Park on St. Valentine’s day!

Etowah Park is located within the public access part of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. The park has lots of forested area, a large freshwater pond, and a brackish water creek that branches off of the Crooked River, so there is potential to see and count lots of different birds here. There are also bathrooms, as well as pavilions with picnic tables.
