Green on the Coast: Year - Round Golfing in Kingsland, Georgia
As someone who lives in the bustling part of Georgia near Atlanta, I find the idea of a peaceful escape is always inviting. My wife and I, both retired, find ourselves frequently drawn to the calming allure of coastal areas. Kingsland, Georgia, with its promise of sunshine, splendid golf courses, and vibrant local culture, has become our go-to retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. Our journey to Kingsland is a refreshing break from the urban noise to the soothing landscapes of coastal Georgia. As we drive down, the anticipation builds, and stress melts away with every one of us, knowing that various golfing experiences and a dive into the welcoming small-town culture await us.
Laurel Island Links: Coastal Golfing Bliss. It is just a short drive from our cozy hotel in Kingsland. Laurel Island Links is always a fun and satisfying day. Designed by Davis Love III, this course presents a delightful challenge with its wide fairways and strategic water hazards. Each hole offers a new scenic vista, making the game a test of skill and an opportunity to indulge in the breathtaking coastal environment. The friendly staff at the on-site cafe and the well-stocked pro shop make each visit smooth and enjoyable. Here, I often meet fellow golfers to chat with, swapping stories under the warm Georgia sun with a cold glass of whatever’s on tap in my hand.
Trident Lakes: A Gem on the Navy Base Our first stop is Trident Lakes Golf Club, part of the Navy Base. Designed by Arthur Hills, this place isn’t just a golf course; it’s a sanctuary. With meticulously maintained greens and fairways that meander through natural woodland and lakes, playing here feels like you’re part of a secluded world. The air carries a gentle sea breeze, enhancing our game experience and uplifting our spirits. Trident Lakes challenges us even as more seasoned golfers but remains approachable enough for players at any skill level.
Sanctuary Cove: A Modern Public HavenSanctuary Cove offers an experience with a twist–a fantastic golf simulator course. Designed by the Love Golf Design team, led by Laurel’s own Davis Love III, this course seamlessly blends challenge and playability. The simulator adds a modern touch, perfect for those rainy days or when you want to hone your skills in a controlled environment. The Love Golf influence is evident, making Sanctuary Cove a must-visit for any golf enthusiast.Â
