Embark on an unparalleled outdoor adventure with the Georgia Coast Rail-Trail. This Rails to Trails initiative of the Coastal Georgia Greenway Trail offers a picturesque route that will eventually span 68 miles from Kingsland north to Riceboro. This lush corridor traverses a stunning landscape of longleaf pine forests, marshlands, and sawgrass, meandering across tidal rivers and creeks along the way. Following the path of an abandoned CSX rail corridor, the trail is designed to accommodate walkers, cyclists, joggers, equestrians, and nature enthusiasts alike. Ensuring the preservation of wetlands and wildlife habitats, the trail offers unmatched natural scenery, providing a serene and immersive experience for all who visit.
Currently only two portions of the Rails to Trails initiative have been completed and opened for traffic – the White Oak Rail-Trail, features a crushed stone surface, spans approximately 3.5 miles. The trailhead is located at Burnt Fort Rd & Hwy 17 near the Charlie Easterling Memorial Park, and then runs parallel to US Hwy 17 from Vanzant Road to Chaney Road. Most of this trail is immersed in the local forests, with a brief fishing bridge to cross on the north end, parallel to the White Oak Boat Ramp. Extend your adventure and travel along the Woodbine Rail Trail portion too!
